The Therapist by B.A. Paris

3 Stars

B.A. Paris is one of the first thriller/suspense authors I ever read and for the most part I have loved every book she’s written. While this wasn’t my favorite book by her, it was still pretty good.

Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in an exclusive gated community but soon Alice discovers that a woman named Nina was murdered in their home. She becomes infuriated with her husband Leo when she finds out he knew about this murder but chose not to tell his wife about it when they purchased it. Alice becomes sucked into trying to figure out who killed Nina, including suspecting their secretive neighbors even though someone has already been arrested and charged with the crime. Alice doesn’t believe they have the right person and she’ll stop at nothing until she reveals the truth.

I was enjoying this book at first, I liked the characters and I liked the setting of the gated exclusive community. It started to drag for me in the middle of the book and it didn’t really pick back up until the ending. I hate to say I ended up skimming two thirds of this book but it was getting a little tedious. The ending made up for the lackluster middle though so it’s a solid three stars and I will continue to read her other works.

*Many thanks to St. Martins Press for the gifted copy for my honest review!*
