Of Light and Darkness & Of Blood and Magic by Shayne Leighton Review

Many thanks to Parliament House Press for the gifted copies of these two books in exchange for my honest review!

Of Light and Darkness – 3 Stars

I was very intrigued going into this book as I’m always looking for a great vampire romance book that I can really sink my teeth into. Unfortunately, this book didn’t quite do it for me. Overall this wasn’t a terrible book but a little disturbing with the romance. Not what I was expecting when I heard it was a vampire romance, the daddy daughter thing is very odd to me and not something I enjoy reading.

The writing style was good but I did get a little lost at times trying to keep up with what was happening. The plot wasn’t super built out but the characters were, I especially like the witch Sarah, she’s probably my favorite character out of them all. The action was well developed and very detailed, it was like you could perfectly picture it happening in your mind.

Of Blood and Magic – 2 Stars

Sadly I didn’t care much for this book, almost like the first book but I liked this one a little less. The writing style didn’t keep my attention, the only characters I like are the spider, the scarecrow, and the witch Sarah, the other characters either irritated me or I just didn’t care for them as a whole. The romance still gives me the heebie jeebies, I just can’t get past the “daddy/daughter” relationship the two of them have. The action scenes I honestly just skimmed through because that is the area where I was losing the most attention span for.

I really wanted to love these two books but unfortunately I will not be continuing on with the series even though the second book kind of ended on a cliffhanger, they’re just not for me.
