Review of You by Caroline Kepnes

5 out of 5 stars!

Holy fricking moly what a book. This was honestly one of the best books I’ve read in a long time just due to the craziness and amazing writing. I will admit I tried reading this book when it first came out but just couldn’t get into it but then after watching two episodes of the show “You” I decided to give it another try and I’m so glad I did.

This book is about Joe who works at a bookstore when a girl walks in one day and he’s immediately drawn to her. After getting her name from her credit card he learns where she lives, stalks all of her social media, and is frequently outside her apartment which conveniently has no curtains. He starts to follow every aspect of her life and as she tweets her locations, he’s there. After one drunken night he ends up with her email and her seemingly lost phone and they start a relationship that the girl Beck at first thinks is just normal dates between a guy and girl. As time goes on and Joe becomes more obsessed Beck starts to realize Joe is controlling a lot more of her life than she could ever imagine.

I don’t even know what all to say about this book. The characters were amazing, the story was amazing, the whole concept of this book was once again, amazing. I love how the whole story was told from Joe and instead of calling the girl by her real name it was always put as “you”. Yes Joe might have been a super creepy crazy stalker but that’s what really made the story. All the things he did and lied about to get near Beck were intense and you never knew what he was going to come up with next. So so good. Huge A+ to Caroline Kepnes for this awesome book that I’m so glad is getting the recognition it deserves.
