Any books involving cannibalism is of course going to intrigue me and this one was pretty good. I loved the Japanese lore that was tied into it, it was really fascinating to read about. I would have given this a higher rating if it had more gore and more cannibalistic elements to it. I felt like it didn’t have enough. Also, even though this was a very quick read, I found myself getting bored with the story quite a few times. It did remind me of Bloom by Delilah S. Dawson a lot, I just didn’t enjoy it was much sadly. The twist at the end took me by surprise though.
Many thanks to Ballantine for the gifted copy for my honest review!
