After finishing the crazy, spicy, action-packed first book I knew I had to immediately jump into the second book. I couldn’t get enough of the two main characters and since the first book left on a bit of a cliffhanger with Shaw, I had to know what was going to happen next.

While this book wasn’t as good as the first one, which I gave 5 stars, but if I’m looking at it as its own individual book, it was still pretty freaking good. The character development in this book was done perfectly and I loved being inside Cole’s delusional mind more. Sophie Lark is a master at writing twisted, dark characters that you can’t help but love because they’re so protective of what’s theirs.

I will say the action scenes in this book were a lot more intense than the first book. I was literally holding my breath at times in anticipation of what was going to happen next. I love how Mara was portrayed as this weak, meek girl in the first book and then makes a complete flip to total badass in the second book. Perfect redemption story in my opinion.

And of course the main thing that everyone wants to know is the spice. Trust me, there’s plenty of spice in this one just like the first one. Dirty, twisted, dark, spice but what else can we expect and what more could we really want?
